Simon Ingram, Ibstock's Head of Estates, talks about the Ibstock estate, which covers 3,200 acres across the UK. A key part of our operations is to ensure we preserve and create spaces for nature to flourish. These green spaces provide safe habitats for wildlife to take shelter and nest. This includes 43 miles of hedgerow, 19 acres of lakes/ponds, 580 acres of woodland, and 452 acres of grazing land. Several of these areas have been created in partnership with local community programs.
Emily Landsborough, Ibstock's Head of Sustainability, discusses how the company is addressing new biodiversity net gain requirements by introducing products designed to help wildlife thrive alongside human development. Bee habitat bricks, bat boxes, swift boxes, and hedgehog-friendly gravel boards are discreetly built into new structures, creating essential habitats without disrupting the living spaces of residents. This thoughtful integration of biodiversity-friendly design helps homeowners enjoy the benefits of nature close to home while quietly supporting the UK’s broader goal of reversing biodiversity loss by 2050.
